Hi, I’m Dr. Gerald Imber. Let’s talk about sunlight and what it does to your skin. Forget about the healthy glow. What sun exposure does to your skin is it promotes skin cancer, it causes wrinkles, it causes discoloration, it causes the collagen to thin and loosen on your face, therefore it causes sagging of the skin and makes you look older before your time.

There is absolutely no excuse for sunbathing and certainly there is no excuse for sunbathing without sunblock. There is nothing positive you will get from this in the long run.

Let’s use a little bit of common sense. You need two things, you need an excellent sunblock and you need an excellent antioxidant serum. That combination will help undo some of the damage from the sun and help prevent future damage from the sun.

Many of us stop the use of sunscreen with the perceived lack of sun exposure. But fall and winter does not signal a break from harmful UV rays. Remember UV rays can penetrate through clouds and overcast skies. It is especially important to apply SPF if you practice daily exercise or work outdoors. Skiers should take special caution before hitting the slopes. The combination of the sun reflecting off the snow and a higher altitude make skiers and snowboarders highly susceptible to sunburn.

Ingredients like titanium dioxide or Parsol, which offer both UVA and UVB protection, are the most important ingredients to look for when purchasing a sunblock. Youth Corridor’s Sooth and Defend Moisturizer with SPF 30 UVA and UVB Protection, protects delicate skin while calming botanical extracts soothe and defend. Before stepping outside remember to kick up your sun protection for fall and winter activities.

Hello, I’m Dr. Gerald Imber and today we’re going to talk about facial muscle exercises. Let me start by saying, I call facial muscle exercises a wrinkle workout. Because the only thing facial muscle exercises do is give you wrinkles! Period, end of story.

The muscles of facial expression work in this way, they’re attached to the skin and to a bone. So for example, on my forehead, if I exercise the frontalis muscle by lifting my eyebrows, I make horizontal lines in the skin. If I exercise the muscle around my eyes, I make smile lines in the corners of my eyes. If I purse my lips, I make vertical lines in my lips. Who wants that?

The idea of facial muscle exercises is absolute nonsense. You use your facial muscles to look alive, to look happy, to look vibrant, to look like a human being. But you get wrinkles from life and from using those muscles. Don’t make it worse.

Too much sun exposure and beach time activities can lead to flaky, dry, pigmented skin. With fall here it is the perfect time to renew the skin while decreasing hyper-pigmentation and dead skin cell build up. The perfect ingredient to do this is Vitamin A which is found in Retin A, and Renova.

Retin A is a derivative of vitamin A and is prescribed for the treatment of acne, anti-aging and hyper-pigmentation. It works by increasing cellular turnover, exfoliating the skin aiding in a smoother, clearer texture. Retin A usage is directed based on skin types and conditions. A thin layer is typically applied in the evening to treat during bedtime. It is best to follow the doctor’s directions when you using Retin A as it varies from patient to patient. See your doctor about introducing Retin A into your regime. You will see fast results while revitalizing the skin for a more youthful appearance.

Hi, I’m Dr. Gerald Imber and we’re going to talk about a proper skin care routine. A skin care routine should really do several things. First of all, it has to remove the old environmental damage and dead cells and dirt from the world we live in by exfoliation.

After the skin is clean and exfoliated, one needs to apply treatment products such as antioxidant serums and other things to the clean, dry skin. And that has to be followed by moisturization and sunblock. So those are three steps; clean it, treat it, moisturize it and the last step is make-up and that’s just frosting on the cake. That’s up to you!

The first step to every skincare regimen is the cleansing process, one of the most important processes in a skincare regimen. Skin cleansing assists in removing bacteria, make-up and remaining impurities that cause clogging in the pores leading to breakouts and oily skin. A common mistake made by many is using bar soap on the face. Bar soap contains harsh detergents that irritate and leave a soapy film on the surface. Choosing the correct cleanser for your skin type is very important as it preps the skin allowing for optimal results of your treatment products.

Oily skin types that are susceptible to acquiring pimples and black heads should use gel based cleansers that penetrate deep into pores to remove bacteria and surface cell build up. If you are a dry to normal skin type cleansing milks are suitable without over drying. Youth Corridor’s Gentle Cleansing Foam with Green Tea is an antioxidant based cleanser that is great for all skin types and conditions. It contains botanical extracts allantoin and aloe vera to sooth and heal the skin while stimulating the growth of healthy tissue. If you are unsure of what cleanser is best for you be sure to consult with a skin care specialist.

Hi, I’m Dr. Gerald Imber, and I’d like to talk to you about the proper time to start a proper skin care routine. The story with a skin care routine, and I don’t mean just putting moisturizer on, I’m talking about preventative measures.

The time to begin a real skin care routine is before you think you need it. So that most teens or anyone who is passing from their teens into adulthood, who think they’re invulnerable and need absolutely nothing are the people who will benefit the most from good skin care and good skin care routines and the use of good preventative products.

Sadly, these are the hardest people to convince that they need it because they have no wrinkles, they have no lines and they cannot believe that it’s going to happen to them. Well, if you’re young and you’re listening to this, it will happen to you.

The way you can prevent accelerating it or perhaps even forestall it is by using sunblock, by using a good antioxidant serum, by developing a proper skin care routine for yourself. It’s the nicest thing you can do for yourself and you’ll have the result for the rest of your life.
